Exercise Item Banks
Our exercise item banks, which are formatted to work with Canvas, we co-created with AI. Our goal was to create sample passages for fallacy detection and symbolization exercises that are representative of the broad disciplinary areas one finds in a university.
How to use our .zip files in Canvas
Because Canvas does not currently support exporting item banks, we added all the questions in each item to a quiz and exported the quiz. However, you can import each .zip file below as an item bank into your Canvas shell.
Here is a quick step-by-step process for importing our questions into an item bank. If you have questions about how to do this, contact your local Canvas Support Specialist.
Download the .zip file you are interested in using (maybe to your desktop so you can find it easily).
In Canvas, create a new item bank using the +Bank button. Enter any name, e.g., myNewBank, and select Share with <your_course_name>
On the banks page, you will now see myNewBank listed as a hyperlink. Click on it
Click on the three dots menu and select Import Content
Drag-and-drop the .zip file you downloaded from this page and click Import
The item bank's name you created will be overwritten with the filename of the .zip file. You can change that, if you want.
